Plot Summary: When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus' own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

They sure aren't giving us much about this movie now, are they? But it reminds me a bit of the Exorcism of Emily Rose.

If you go see Splice the trailer is played. And by the trailer the movie looks really good.

Interesting angle that the "exorcist" is, apparently, something of a charlatan, believing that he has to stop taking advantage of "deluded" religious believers, until he has a close encounter with what may very well be the real deal . . .

This one looks good to me. I'll probably catch the dvd when it comes out (maybe just in time for Halloween?)

PG-13? How good can it really be!

@ will45;what do these movies have in common~
drag me to hell
the 1st 3 star wars
jaws
the dark knight
e.t.
titanic
spider man
jurassic park
iron man
invasion of the body snatchers (d souhtenland)
any twilight zone episode
6th sense
dual
the haunting (b&w)
the predator
x-men
cloverfield(ff 15 min)

while i can see where youre coming from, horror need not be about blood, guts, cursing and nudity. from a financial standpoint, it makes sense to make them pg-13. true, from an esthetic POV, one wouldnt want their horror to be watered down.

in the clumsy paws of a hack, a pg-13 rated horror could spell doom. insult your audience into believing they are incapable of being scared or interested if there isnt boob shots or decapitations. who needs a BELIEVABLE STORY ? COMPETENT ACTING ? ORIGINALITY ?

ill not be hypocritical. i love gore (inside)! i despise silly gore (feast 2-3). i used to think a director is holding back if the horror movie was pg-13. truth be told, its only a matter of less nudity and easing up on the graphic scenes.

ill always use the above list of movies (i know, some of them arent horror movies) and twilight zone as reference points on the ''eewww, a pg-13 horror movie'' POV. if the story is interesting, ill give it a shot.
