Plot Summary: Twelve-year old Owen is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby, an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father. A frail, troubled child about Owens's age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.
When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby's father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen's efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she’s hiding an unthinkable secret.

No. Just ...no. See the original, it's not that hard to read subtitles.

The original is a near perfect movie. What a lack of originality in Hollywood to do this. You REMAKE movies that werent made correctly in the first place. Stupid. Just stupid.

that was fast. if they are to remake this movie, i think they should at least wait about 5 to 6 years. it's too soon.

Not even, If it ain't broke don't fix it. Stupid Americans! Sometimes i am ashamed I am one. We're too lazy and stupid to read subtitles? Why ruin a perfectly good movie. If anything, dubb the voices. My god! I was pissed when they did this for "Rec" but now i beyond pissed. When i graduate from film school in 2 years i'm going to show them how to make movies. 2011 here i come!!!!!!!!!!

'let the right one in'.......if u MUST remake this, please keep the title!!! changing it gives off the wrong vibe of what it's about

is in the loop for the part and would be fantastic. She is 2 years older now.

Really... does anyone NOT believe that Hollywood won't begin the damage by recasting the leads as teens (prob. older teens)? And, of course, look for at least 2 rock songs to flesh it out and add to the saleability of it all.
No, no, and no. These classic wrongheaded studio decisions just will never stop coming. Too bad for all those who tired of Hollywood thinking decades ago. *sigh* And so it goes...

I have to agree with everyone above, with the simple letters wtf! This is yet another movie that should not messed with by hollywood. Atleast let it get a few years on it.

The only thing that is promising about this is that Hammer (yes, Hammer Horror Hammer) is putting this out. Though I have no clue why the changed the bloody name!

THERE SHOULD BE A LAW OR AT LEAST A FINE TO PAY FOR NOT COMING UP WITH YOUR OWN MOVIE! OR REMAKES! I JUST HOPE ITS AS DARK AND GRIPPING AS LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A (MOVIE SHOWDOWN) OF HORROR DIRECTORS AND SCREEN WRITERS! AND LET THE MOVIE WATCHERS VOTE! AND KEEP HOLLY WOOD OUT OF THE VOTING PROCESS FOR ONCE. OUT OF ALL THE MOVIE CRITICS WE HAVE,THERE IS NOT ONE THAT I EVER AGREE WITH. TO ALL MY HORROR MOVIE BUDS THANK YOU AND REMEMBER CHECK UNDER YOUR BEDS BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP!

What was lacking in the original film? The film industry (in Hollywood) is going down a similar route as the music industry did about 8 or 9 years ago where they (the music industry) just endlessly rehashed their existing catalogue with 'deluxe' releases and rarely released/invested in anything original. Now what state is the music industry in? And who will be the first to complain when people stop going to the cinema or buying DVDs of their crap, unoriginal toss. Matt Reeves said of the remake that "We’ve been able to ramp that up (the scares) quite a lot, obviously for budgetary reasons" (Wikipedia) so let's take from that statement that a bit more money is going to be thrown at it. Woo hoo... And changing the title: WTF - just listen to the last verse of the Morrissey song which sums up for me the essence of the book/film. But who am I to say all this? Have a look at youtube.com/watch?v=lrXo8cm0JCQ to hear what Kare Hedebrant has to say on the subject (about 5 mins in).
