Lionsgate hosted a special event tonight in San Diego, inviting press to take part in a Q and A with several of the key players of the Saw franchise. Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell, joined producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules alongside director Kevin Greutert to recall the history of the film series and its effect on pop culture.

In celebration of Saw becoming the most financially successful horror franchise of all time, both Burg and Koules were presented with official plaques from Craig Glenday, the Editor in Chief of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Following a brief Q and Q, the first eight minutes of Saw 3D premiered to press and a select group of fans.

Spoilers Ahead!

Opening where the first Saw left off, we see Cary Elwes as Dr. Gordon dragging himself along the floor, his foot gone. He makes his way to a heating pipe and, mustering the courage, presses his amputated wound against the heat, cauterizing it. As he screams, we fade away.

We come back to an all-new trap, this time in broad daylight in a major city. Inside a glass box in a large public square are two men chained to a machine. They're just waking up as a crowd gathers around them, wondering what's going on. Each are chained to circular saws with another saw in the center. Above them, a door opens to reveal a woman, strapped horizontally above the saw. Jigsaw appears on his tricycle, speaking in Tobin Bell's voice. He explains that this woman has cheated on them and convinced each man to commit crimes for her. They must now choose where the interconnected saws go; they can push the saw from beneath her, but it will cause it to go into one of them.

Everyone screams and the crowd tries to break the glass to no avail. Each man tries to push the saws into the other and one of them gets cut across the chest. The woman suddenly swaps her affections when she realizes that one is losing and both men notice, deciding to let her die instead. The circular saw cuts right into her chest and we see intestines fall right out of the wound onto the bloody floor.

Everyone reiterated that this will be the very final film and will wrap up a story arc that Burg and Koules conceived midway through the series.

Saw 3D hits theaters on October 29th.

As a child of the 80's, I NEVER believe: "This is the final one".

What the hell is up with every one dogging the last Saw? It was the second best reviewed of the whole series. Stop your damn complaining people!

Seriously AWESOME!!! Ive been wondering what had become of poor Dr Gordon and this Jigsaw trap sounds frigging BRILLIANT!! I love the Saw movies and it's a shame this is the last one :'( How will my morbid mind cope without seeing people die in gruesome torturous ways :)

Well, if this is the opening scene, it doesn't match the theme of SAW nor does it look so fascinating. Let's see what's there in the Movie itself. I hope it would live up to the expectation.

I sure hope they didn't forget to put a storyline in this chapter.

this movie actually has me VERY intrigued. i've said for a while now that i'm not into the SAWS after part 3 but i love that they are actually doing something different (with the public executions...morbid of me to say i know! LOL). i could care less about the 3D but i WILL go see this because they are doing it different this time and i want..NEED to see Hoffman get F'd in the A. and Jill BETTER NOT die!!

Posted by: alex on July 24, 2010 at 15:51:17

it sucks this is the final saw movie.

Posted by: J-man on July 24, 2010 at 17:45:47

Things are looking bad for Jill, I don't think Hoffman will give her a fair chance at survival, she sure didn't give him any! I really wonder how it will end, Hoffman's death? Will Dr. Gordon be the one to say the famous last words, Game over! I hope so :P

Posted by: firstgold on July 24, 2010 at 19:40:09

Yay, Dr. Gordon is offically alive...

Posted by: SpaghettiCats on July 24, 2010 at 20:14:32

It sucks that I am going to have to pay almost 20 bucks to see this in 3d ... better be worth it

So, they're finally going in a different direction with the Saw franchise...about time. Looks pretty good, actually.

I'm lookinv forward to the new Saw movie. I've been a fan since day one,but I would have loved to have viewed the first 8mins in person. They're always giving us a new twist and turn in the franchise, but its worth it. Once you think you have figured it out, you're blown away with the outcome. I can't wait!!!

Posted by: unretro on July 25, 2010 at 13:39:01

Oh maaan, just reading that got my adrenaline going. I looove the SAW movies, they are my favorite. I too am sad that this is the final movie of the series. But I'm sure it will be a mind-blowing end to this extrodinary series. Not to mention its in 3D. My favorite blood and gore slasher movie in 3D? AWESOME!!!

Posted by: kjmabe95 on August 5, 2010 at 21:05:24

i cant wait for this movie! its gonna be epic

Posted by: agentsands on August 16, 2010 at 01:58:18

Hoffman better rule! I know he's a baddie for blackmailing Amanda, but I respect him for surviving a reverse bear trap, specially that Jill didn't give him a chance to survive it. That, and for trick Strahm to his death! Hahaha!

to the Saw fans. If your going to see the next Saw why do want to spoil it by seeing the first 8 minutes and watching trailers? And anyone who thinks this is the end doesn't understand the horror genre. As long as fools pay to see it there will be another. Although I hope this is truly the end as this franchise has gotten ridiculous.

Posted by: slappy on August 16, 2010 at 11:37:55

spoiling the first 8 minutes really doesnt hurt. sure the dr gordon thing was surprising to read an so was the outside public trap but knowing what will hasppen by reading will make it better when the movie finally comes out imo. oh and i will see this in 3d. i love 3d. when it is used well like in avatar it is awsome
