New Posters, Banners for Universal's The Wolfman
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor

For the crowds flooding the annual Halloween Horror Nights event, Universal Studios Hollywood has decked out its park with posters and banners for The Wolfman! Some hung from lamp posts, others from soundstage walls. Naturally, I had to snap some shots to share with you, dear reader.

And yes, as reported, the Terror Tram Tour ended with a first look at not just footage from the film but an actual teaser trailer you'll be seeing in theaters soon. I didn't spy any new shots that were not already seen at Comic-Con (footage description here), still, it gave this old school Universal monster nut shivers.

The Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro as Larry Talbot (aka The Wolfman), Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. Rick Baker (interview) provided the Wolfman FX. This Joe Johnston-directed redo lopes into theaters on April 3, 2009.

Isn't it supposed to be titled "The Wolf Man" and not "The Wolfman"?

Posted by: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor on October 4, 2008 at 06:38:19

Yes, it should be. But for this new version Universal has adapted to "Wolfman" rather than the original film's "Wolf Man."

i heard there's a twist int he storyline where anthony hopkins & benicio del toro turn out to actually be ****sexual lovers/werewolves, benicio becomes in love with another man, and anthony hopkins gets revenge by becoming a werewolf and attacking the secret lover of benicio.

This film is going to tank so badly. I'm not even kidding.

It'll still be interesting to so see, though.

The casting in this movie is excellent and Rick Baker's make-up looks fantastic but I am worried about this whole "directed-by-Joe-Johnston" thing. Jumanji and Jurassic Park 3 weren't particularly good movies. Seems like he is the weak link in all this. I REALLY hope this is good but I am well prepared to be disappointed when it finally hits the screen next year.

I dunno, My Two Cents, I never saw Jumanji personally but I enjoyed JP3 a lot more than The Lost World. I think that part of the problem with those movies is the kid connection, and 3 had it just as bad. I'm thinking that a full-out horror film with no children in it should be fine. With the design of the Wolfman he seems to be paying sufficient homage to the original that I am inclined to think he respects it, and that gives me hope.

This stuff looks awesome, I'm excited for this flick but I just want to know one thing-why in the hell are semi-high profile horror movies being released over the freakin' summer? Why not put them in October? Something tells me that they would make way more money in October than releasing a horror movie in the Spring. I'm tired of seeing the October horror movie slate is nothing but another Saw sequel and another piece of crap film that should have been direct to DVD. Friday the 13th, The Wolfman...c'mon...put em' in October for f**** sake.

Making the title one word makes it sound like a surname. Marv Wolfman, CPA.

Or Benny Wolfman...

Andy,
That would've been great, but I think the reason why "Wolfman" and "Friday" are being released earlier in the year is because maybe the studios want to release the DVD's in October. It's all part of the plan, I guess.

could be that way.
