Lussier: No Bloody Valentine Sequel
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
April 19, 2009
Quick update from Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors... Director Patrick Lussier revealed today that Lionsgate expressed it has no interest in a sequel to My Bloody Valentine 3D.
According to Lussier, the studio, while surprised by the slasher film's b.o. success, doesn't want to develop a follow-up and would prefer to leave the film as a one-shot. Lussier and writer Todd Farmer have each said they have an idea as to where to guide a second chapter.
Alas, we may never see what that idea is.
My Bloody Valentine 3D hits DVD and Blu-Ray on May 19th.

That's quite a surprise to hear, for heck:even the original didn't get a sequel(and was slightly left open for one).

The original was scarier.
These remakes Hollywood is making aren't bad but their not "more better" than the original.
ex. Halloween, Friday 13th, Bloody Valentine, etc...

Damn. I kind of liked the first. It wasn't award winning or anything but it was fun to watch. I still haven't seen the original though.

That is unusual, the studio's usually want to milk these films for every dime knowing that the teen crowds will pay up to see gore.

Of course Lionsgate doesn't want to do a sequel. It's not Saw, therefore, it's not a franchise. Just more evidence that Lionsgate is run by complete retards.

It's because of Saw that Lionsgate doesn't want to do a sequel. Saw is their franchise, it's what they get all their money from, they don't need another horror movie franchise. When in doubt, just make a Saw movie.

Boooooooooooooooooo

Thank You Lionsgate
I found that the remake was kind of boring and i was hoping for a LOT more than what was provided

I think Lionsgate is gonna learn the hard way with the whole Saw franchise thing. But whatever, this does sucks b/c I was looking forward to another MBV but I will get over it with the other upcoming 3D thrills.

This frakking movie sucked balls but was interresting to watch because of the 3-D, "BOLT" was better and i didn't even see it!

personally I think thats great
I thought it was an excellent remake
and doesnt need a half aced sequel to ruin its credit
so I find this to be great news

shane tea french
The fact that you said "frakking" proves to me that i shouldn't take your opinion seriously.

Haven't seen this one but will here soon. I've heard positive reviews for the most part.
I've been through with the Saw movies since III. They won't get anymore of my money via their sequels...but clearly there are millions of fans who have continued to get milked.

what? the movie was really good, a hard R film. saw is just worn out, there dragging the story and giving to much info on jigsaw, which is making it really less scary and more boring.

Truthfully, I felt this movie was mediocre at best. The **** acting completely ruined it for me.

Thank Hera! That's the best news of the day

In latest news, film company Lionsgate have officially become a Hollywood player by making a stupid decision with not making a sequel to "My Bloody Valentine 3D". Congrats, you've officially joined the league of 20th Century Fox, WB, Universal, Paramount, Disney etc.
I loved the remake and love the original, the original has something about it that is purely fun and the remake was so stupid it was off the charts, I loved it so much. I wish there would be a sequel. A boy can dream. At least it's the other way around with Lussier having an idea and the studio not wanting to do it instead of the studio wanting to do it and the director not knowing what to do.
I'll still be getting the film on Blu-Ray when it comes out here in Australia. I loved it, it was SO corny and so cheesy, thusly made a delicious feast!

i meant **** Lionsgate!

Good! Use the $$ made off this one to develop something ORIGINAL for a change instead of remakes and sequels.

Oh well...

This is great news! We won't have to deal with another c rapfest of a movie. Thank God

Lionsgate *doesn't* want to make another horror movie? Riiiiiight...
We'll see in five years, at which time two more "Valentine" movies will have been pumped direct-to-DVD.
Whatever you say, Lionsgate...

Since when do studios want to leave a movie as a one shot? They want sequels for everything to to get our money!!
This is one of those times when it wouldn't be bad to see a sequel. Hell, every other time you DON'T want a movie sequel to be made and leave it as a one shot, they do it anyway and ruin it, lol. Looks like they're doing things backwards!
