Confirmed Exclusive: Resident Evil 4 Arriving in Late 2010
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
July 2, 2009

Update: We have just received confirmation - the release date is true!

In spite of what any of the talent involved in Resident Evil: Extinction told us during the press tour (mostly, "this is the final chapter"), the film left the door wide - and we mean WIDE open - for a fourth installment.

Late last year, Paul W.S. Anderson revealed he was indeed writing another film. Capcom was getting involved. Everyone, as he said, was "excited." Well, we've just learned from a studio insider that Sony is looking to get Resident Evil: Afterlife into theaters by September 17, 2010. That's according to an internal memo circulating through the offices there.

Will Anderson direct? Unsure. Will Milla Jovovich be back? I think it would be safe to say yes considering the last entry ended on - SPOILER ALERT - Alice clones getting ready to seek revenge on the Umbrella Corporation which was holed up in Tokyo.

More info as it comes in!

I think setting it in Japan is a cool idea.

Who cares? These movies sucked. Talk about ignoring the games.

Posted by: Orlando on July 1, 2009 at 20:56:57

Thats not surprising. The way they ended the last one, they would have needed to do something with it, I mean why not. I for one, enjoyed the RE movie series. Its always a treat to see a hottie kick some zombie ass. And I love Milla as that hottie, I think even when the RE movies do end, she definatly needs to find more roles to play like Alice. And since they only pulled out a few charcters from the actual games, why not just make a project Alice video game. Atleast she'd really be part of the RE family. Hell and I think that would make a great RE game.

exactly robgoblin these movies are horrible, such potential for awesome films yet ignored the games completely and instead are complete useless piles of ****.

I agree these movies are terrible. YOu really think they have a place to even go now. The world is gone and there are some guys in business suits scheming in a room in japan. What the fck could they be scheming? Money is useless, there is nothing left. It's fcking dumb. And I think when you end a movie with the main character holding her dead naked self you've pretty much said all you can say about the subject.

The games were set up sooo perfectly to become legendary horror movies. But Sony thought it better to turn them into stupid kungfu action films. And anderson should just be plain out sentenced to death by firing squad. That guy is a talentless scumbag hack.

If Capcom was smart they would get rid of this series and start fresh. Call it Bio-Hazard and maybe throw the first two games together for a two and half hour movie. Staring Chris and myself.

Oh yes please!!!

Posted by: joe asylo on July 1, 2009 at 21:22:32

the ending of the third was really lame, but hey if they are following continuit well then let see how it come out.

Word of advice, open it in the Summer not at the end of it, it might actually make more money.

Posted by: ico on July 1, 2009 at 22:04:12

I can't think of anywhere this could go. This is one of the few times that i can blantantly see money is the only reason it's being made.

Posted by: djblack1313 on July 1, 2009 at 22:08:57

Yea its ridiculous how they jump in and out of following the game..first movie didnt one bit..original idea is fine with me but that was terrible..2nd one attempted to follow RE2 and had a few characters from the game and the third abandoned completly..why dont they get it that the first game had a great story and would make a bad ass movie if done right

Posted by: HT on July 1, 2009 at 22:55:02

i think milla confirms RE4 in this youtube vid
watch?v=kSAv4lk_hJs

watch from 1:24-1:35

milla said she will be shooting a movie at the end of the year, then shes asked which one, she says, "number 4!"

Posted by: wayne on July 1, 2009 at 23:00:11

STOP WITH THESE MOVIES.......They sucked from the first film and never had anything to do with RESIDENT EVIL.

To slap the same name onto the movie does not make it Resident Evil, They should be remade and given the damn respect they should have been given from day 1.

Posted by: jackko on July 1, 2009 at 23:03:37

I've played the games. I'm glad the movies don't follow them exactly. Because the games SUCKED big time.

Posted by: a zombie that watched this garbage on July 1, 2009 at 23:44:41

they all stunk. the only good part about these films is that milla jovovich gets naked in every freakin one. thats it. and what was the point of that. I mean its great to see her nude but I dont see all kinds of nudity in the games. It's supposed to be horror.gimme a break.it's like making a cabin fever sequel. you know it's gonna stink what's the point of wasting your time.

This series need a reboot in the worse kind of way.Needs to stay true to the videogame.Less action and more horror and suspense.

Posted by: andrew on July 2, 2009 at 05:06:31

They kinda left it open for both Alice and Claire. I'm curious as to if while Alice goes after Umbrella in Tokyo, is there going to be something for Claire to discover once she reaches Alaska? Maybe the infection is already there, or maybe Umbrella has another secret research facility that's either been abandoned or could still be active.

Posted by: chris on July 2, 2009 at 08:11:10

why attack umbrella for one there is nothing left to fight for the world is destroyed ,and two they are trieing to fix their mistakes so why fight. they needto reboot this franchise and let m night shyamalan direct it more like the first game.........................

Posted by: Joe24 on July 2, 2009 at 13:37:28

Why can't this franchise make like a zombie and DIE ALREADY?!? I'm all for originality but at least stick to SOME source material. These movies had absolutely NOTHING to do with the games except for the title. I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd movies but the 3rd just killed it. The very end was like a WTF moment. They've gone sooo far off track that it can't be saved. I think, instead of taking the fight to Umbrella, Alice should take the fight to Sony for f***ing up this franchise lol. These movies shouldn't be all about action. They should be about the unspeakable horrors that men create in their greed and lust for power. They should be Suspense/Horror movies with a hardcore "R" rating for violence and gore. I demand a reboot!

Yea!!! i'm glad to hear it, the 1st 2 were great & the 3rd was just meh.... it was kool that they finally brought in Wesker but why did they have to kill LJ & Oliver

Posted by: Russell V on July 2, 2009 at 17:05:15

Paul Anderson is the worst director every. I am happy that Capcom is getting involved. In my view Sony should start over with Resident Evil. And if they do start over, Capcom needs to be involved all the way. Also Capcom needs to write the scripts for the movies, not some Hollywood person.Another thing, play the games first then write the script. All three movies suck balls.Capcom the inventor of the Resident Evil Franchise should have be involved from the begin. The only good videogame movie is Silent Hill. You should get my friend Scott to write the scripts. He is the biggest RE Fan that I know. If you would like to contact him let me know. My e-mail [email protected] In the message put something about RE script.

I really liked this series. I don't know why it gets so much hate. I have never played any of the games, but love the movies - just kick ass action/horror.
