Paul Bartel's 1975 cult classic Death Race 2000 gets a 2008 jolt in Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race. The locale of the game is different but the conceit is the same: Race. Kill. Simple enough, right? Courtesy of Universal Pictures, ShockTillYouDrop.com presents your exclusive first look at the one-sheet.
Jason Statham (Crank) stars as Jensen Ames, a race car driver who is framed for murder, tossed in the slammer and forced into the titular game. Donning the moniker "Frankenstein," and wearing a metallic visage, Ames races for freedom...so he thinks. Tyrese Gibson, Joan Allen and Ian McShane star.
And just a friendly reminder, Universal has set up a sweepstakes (DeathRacemovie.net/Sweeps) where you can enter to win a trip to the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con and make an appearance in the Race DVD.

Is it just me or does that look like a photoshopped Statham head from In the Name of the King's cover, as awful a movie as that was.
Because I mean, I know Statham doesnt exactly have versatility going for him, but that really does look like the exact same picture! Anyone able to verify that?

Awww sweet. I've been net-less for a while and been hoping someone would remake this movie. It was pure hilarity last time around. They can only make it funnier and more awful to watch.

From what I have seen this movie is just another "reimagining". I have a feeling that just like the poster and Tyrese's acting, this movie will suck.

The initial poster looks of the chain, It doesn't wheter or not is photoshop promo, that movie is going to be a Classic! And plus check oyut Jason statham in teh Bank Job..He wasn't that bad...And Tyrese will be pretty Good in that movie, but he need in his resume is another of film, a more serious role, beside high octane action film, otherwise I think this guys got it the bag.

it's extremely similar, but i'd say it's not the same picture. his lips are making too much of a different shape to waste the time to make on photoshop.

I just saw the original and was cool...and think this one is gonna be equal as cool...i mean JASON STATHAM is cool...so i cant wait to see it..my only hope is that the violence still intact in this remake.

This movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen!!! Beter than saw and saw is pretty good but no better than this! I love the part where the guy is climbing out of his car and gets smashed by the truck!!!
