What Did Jason Look Like Unmasked?

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com

If you went and saw Friday the 13th over the weekend, that was the big question. If you bought NECA's 19-inch Jason Voorhees figure (released about two weeks ago), you could get a good idea of what FX artist Scott Stoddard had in store for the film. But now we've got photographic evidence of his complete Jason makeup that was shot for the film before the footage wound up on cutting room floor. Marcus Nispel explains why he opted to make Jason's "unmasking" a bit of a mystery at the end of our interview here. This footage will likely wind up on the DVD when it arrives this summer.

Gawd, what a bunch of whining friggin maggots. Did you people not realize you were going to see a Jason movie? Oh boo hoo there was bad acting and a predictable plot! Are you friggin kidding me??! Oscar worthy acting and an intriguing plot would KILL any Friday the 13th movie. If you didn't like this movie for those reasons than basically you didn't like any OTHER F13 movie seeing as they ALL shared those same "faults". Which kind of begs the question, if you haven't liked the past 11 F13 movies (also counting FVJ), what in the name of christ made you think you would like this one??
I'm not saying everyone should like these kind of movies, quite the opposite. Clearly they're not for everyone. I guess my question is if you're clearly not a fan of this series or this genre in general, what in god's name made you expect anything different from this one?

That being said I will admit this is not the "best f13 movie EVER!" Far from it, but it's still pretty decent by the standards set by previous sequels. Look at it this way, you have teenagers drinking, smoking weed and skinny dipping, you have Jason killing the aforementioned misbehaving teens in increasingly inventive and entertaining ways and of course, gratuitous T & A! What else have you grown to expect from a Jason movie??! Have there been other, oscar calibur Jason movies out there that I've been missing out on? Granted it could have been better but it also could have been a hell of a lot worse. At least we weren't subjected to some other lunatic "pretending" to be Jason to avenge his murdered son. At least we weren't subjected to a body-swapping Jason. And at least we weren't subjected to a cyborg Jason in space (although to be honest I kinda liked Jason X).

When judged next to other F13 movies it's pretty damn good, and it's faults are those shared by every other F13 movie in existence, so if you could look past those faults enough to enjoy the other movies, then there's no good reason not to like this one, unless you're one of those "This is a remake so I will hate it no matter how much I actually enjoyed it" people. I personally had the worst expectations for this movie, and I made my negative views known on this site. But after seeing it I actually had the mental capacity to look past my preconceived notions enough to admit to myself that I was wrong and it was actually not all that bad.
And if you're one of those people who just simply don't like F13 movies then you had no place watching this movie in the first place. Did you walk into the wrong theatre and only realize half way through the movie "Hey wait a minute! This isn't He's Just Not That Into You! I've been duped!"

*pant, pant* 'kay I'm done ranting now, I feel much better now that I've got that off my chest :D

I'm glad we were going for REALISM "Mark!" lmao. Cause the entire premise is so realistic right? Get a life.

I wonder if people would've *****ed this much if they had the internet back when they made remade Frankenstein and Dracula and all the classics the second time. In another 30 years they will do it all again and people will ***** then. Ahh life....

I think some of you are angry in general and refuse anything. So what if the movie sucked, at least you got another one. You could've had no new
Jason flick and been left with Jason X in your head.

It's a movie people, it's not like this will be the one thing in life you regret on your death bed lol. "Ahh, I never should've spent $9 on the new Jason film in 2009...oh and your not my real son......."

GammaBob and spanish39 I like the way you think. I couldn't of said it better myself.

I know everybody's talking about whether or not the movie was good but...

DAMN! How the hell would that thing (which looks like wee-man got the crap kicked out of him) be able to see out of a hockey mask??????

kind of glad it wasn't revealed, that thing feels way too much like it was plucked out of The Hills Have Eyes

i think that image should go on an ad explaining to women why they shouldn't drink alcohol while pregnant

Friday the 13th is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Posted by: KaneHodderIsJason4EVER on February 16, 2009 at 20:59:30

As much as I liked the new Friday the 13th and Derek was good as this type of Jason, sorry...Kane Hodder IS Jason! There will never be anyone else who cares as much about the role as he did and even if Derek comes back for the sequel, Kane will probably still own the title of most times playing Jason...

Posted by: Jerrod on February 16, 2009 at 21:55:45

It was definitely a good movie. In my opinion, it was the best Jason movie ever made. Yes, even better then my old favorite: Friday the 13th part 3.

In fact, I thought it was better then the 1st 3 combined. The rest have been hit or miss. Mostly miss, but watchable. But this brand new one is a true gem in the series. I can't wait for the blu-ray.

Posted by: Redhead on February 16, 2009 at 22:32:34

To KaneHodderIsJason4EVER I feel the same way that you do Kane Hodder plays Jason the best. Derek Mears did a really awesome Job. I was very disappointed that they didn't have Kane Hodder play in the Jason in Jason Vs Freddy. The jason in that film was just really tall and lanky.

Posted by: Redhead on February 16, 2009 at 22:33:44

in my opinion, This Jason in the new friday the 13th would of beat the **** out of Freddy in Jason vs Freddy movie

In my opinion, this new jason would of beat the **** out of Freddy in Jason vs freddy.

i didnt walk in expecting anything more than a horror film, but if the people behind the movie are going to promote it the way they did(every other article talked about how real and scary it was going to be and everyone involved said they were taking a new approach to relight the franchise) then i expected more than i saw. Some of the kills were cool but im still holding axel's from final chapter. slicin his throat then rippin his head off pretty much takes it for me.
and to continue the weed search, i bet in the NOES remake freddy kills everyone for smokin his stash and not leavin money for it.
i wish i could say just kidding but who knows with platinum dunes

Posted by: Evan on February 16, 2009 at 23:03:55

and i agree kane hodder all the way. Derek did a great job as well though, probably the only thing i liked about the movie.

Posted by: Evan on February 16, 2009 at 23:05:14

if the new one would have had a scene like final chapter with corey feldman jumpin around and screamin like a little perv while watchin the girl undress i would have given it a 10..probably one of the worst things ive ever seen in a movie but in a odd way awesome

Posted by: Redhead on February 16, 2009 at 23:11:54

Yea that was funny when corey feldman was getting excited seeing the chick getting undressed. Part 4 I thought was the best of the original series. I really wish they would of brought Tommy Jarvas back.

I always felt his neck was too thick but seeing the size and shape of his head and face i can understand and accept that tree-trunk under his head.

***** looks like it's smiling back at you. This wreck of a movie was so ****ty I don't even want to buy the DVD.

eggmcmaggot ,
I had the privilege to watch INSIDE on the big screen , and i remember a lot of people screaming and gasping at what they were watching . INSIDE was a new, fresh, scary, and truly a terrifying movie to watch. we now depend on foreign movies like INSIDE, REC, MARTYRS, AND SHUTTER to show us that if a little imagination and creativity is used, horror can done the right way and movies can scare the crap out of us again.

that is why a lot of people are against remakes. where is the creativity and the imagination ?

I saw this movie at it's midnight release here in San Diego and I have to say I loved it. Everyone that hated it because of it's "horrible plot" obivously was thinking way to hard. None of the movies had a great plot minus the first one, but you could totally tell that this was a throw back to the horrible acting and cheesy one liners in the original films. I really hope they make others and keep up the good work. Quit crying about wanting orginal movies because everytime they try to give us you all everyone does is ***** and moan about how horrible it is.

Posted by: Rando on February 17, 2009 at 02:17:57

that mask looks like a piece of ****. If you've ever seen the original, this is an insult. Looks terrible. Hope the movie is ok.

Posted by: Nunya on February 17, 2009 at 05:00:44

Supposedly, I don't know if it's true, I've read it a couple of times, Kane Hodder was asked to run as Jason back in the day and he refused to. If he cared so much for the role he would have ran back then and made it more scary. Then we'd never have to argue about him running now. I thought the movie was okay. Thought it would be better. But it is better than 5 through X. Though I have to admit I loved X for what it was - it seemed like they were intentionally parodying themselves. Freddy vs. Jason though was a huge disappointment.

I agree with just abouit everything Mike has to say on page one except for the Tom Savini part.

Savini never had anything to do with Jason being "mentally challenged". He worked on special effects. Although he can be a rude asshat at times, he's one of the absolute best when it comes to old school effects.

Posted by: Jeremy Selenfriend on February 17, 2009 at 10:46:58

I liked how Jason was able to turn the power on at a camp that had been abandoned for 30 years.

Posted by: Evan on February 17, 2009 at 11:26:50

i also like when the trailer came out everyone was talking about how he seemed more human because he was running around insted of slowly walking. even thou in at least 2 of the old ones he ran after people
