Comic-Con Brawl Lowdown

Source: Ryan Rotten
July 30, 2008

Shock strives to temper the amount of gossip that permeates our headlines, but I've received a few text messages and e-mails about the following and felt I should clear the air with what I know.

On Sunday, Steve Niles - a known friend of ShockTillYouDrop.com - was involved in an altercation on the exhibitor floor at Comic-Con. A fight broke about between the 30 Days of Night creator and an unidentified man. Security personnel got involved and the physical scrap was brought to an end. Police were later called to the scene, but at that point, tempers had faded.

I spoke with Niles this afternoon and he told me, in short, that he was attacked and had no choice but to defend himself. (Witnesses tell us did a pretty damn good job of it, too.) He walked away with minimal injuries.

As for the other guy, we're not sure (no one from the other side has stepped forward to talk about it).

Hopefully this other person has 30 Days Of Headaches.

That's not the true story.... report the truth, or at least ALL of it.

Whoa. Nerds attack. I must have already gone home.

Whatthecluck, what is the whole story? this is the first i've heard of this at all.

The "30 days of headaches" comment by CB made my day!!!

In this corner Steve "The Destroyer" Niles!!!
In that corner, a bleeding and crying geek, who should have known better than to **** with our pal.

were you there, whatthecluck?
i saw the whole thing and steve didnt take it to a physical level, this other guy did. thats assult. it doesnt matter what anyone says, theres surveillance tapes, witnesses, and other things to prove it.

bluediablo52, thanx for clearing that up. i honestly hadn't heard about this. i'm GLAD Steve didn't take crap of that psycho, ****head! i hope the guy gets jail time for the assault. of all places to show respect for the people coming there to show us there works and stuff, it's DEFINITELY the SDCC (there's never any reason to assault somebody obviously!). GOOD FOR STEVE!!

yeah might be.

Posted by: Witness on July 31, 2008 at 03:23:15

Yeah I was one of the few lucky ones in the crowd for that. Unfortunately Steve is over exaggerating the situation I saw him and his girl talking to this guy when Steve sucker punched him in the face and tackled him to the floor, with in a sec security had it taken care of it. That was it. I was one of the witnesses and security took our names and numbers, the guy Niles punched refused to press charges. I would of since the other guy didn't even throw a punch.

Of all the years not to go. I know Steve and his girl had an issue with an artist who attends Comic-Con regularly. No matter who started it, obviously both sides seem to have felt some responsibility otherwise they would press charges.

hey "witness", did you read what i wrote? there are SURVEILLANCE TAPES from the lobby area, REAL witnesses, and other evidence that support steves case.
your saying that a security video tape is wrong? people have seen the incident on those tapes, footage from several angles!, so stop lying.

Posted by: Witness on July 31, 2008 at 14:27:39

Wow SURVEILLANCE TAPES? I guess that changes what I saw then. bluediablo you're hilarious.

If neither side wants to press charges then what more does it matter?
