Dimension Wants Halloween 3D for 2012

June 17, 2011

Dimension Films has announced that fans of Michael Myers should put a big red circle around October 26, 2012 on their calendars.

That's when the company is expected to release Halloween 3D.

Of course, at this time, we have no clue who is directing or which script they are going with. Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer penned a draft which picks up after the events of Rob Zombie's Halloween II. The story concerns Laurie Strode in a mental hospital and there's a part for Tom Atkins to co-star.

Lussier and Farmer, however, are neck-deep in the Hellraiser redo script.

Are the Weinstein brothers pulling the duo off that project to get Halloween 3D rolling?

why? You are going to ruin to perfectly good Rob Zombie Movies just so you can make one that is in 3D. Zombie did a wonderful job...i just have a bad feeling about a third one if hes not directing it and if its gonna b in 3D

You apparently didn't see the second one it was a piece of crap look forward to a different version by someone else.

VERY excited about this. A fan of all of them, except for Halloween 3 (the original pt.3 with the masks)

i love both of Zombie's HALLOWEEN movies. H2 is awesome and is better than any of the HALLOWEEN movies since the god awful part 5-RESURRECTION (it's hilarious that people bash Zombie's H2 but think RES is good! LOL. not even close. RES is THE worst "piece of crap" ever). H20 was decent though. that being said, i'm very excited for someone else doing this new movie. i'd rather have a new H movie than a new HELLRAISER one.

For the love of all that's unholy can we stop pretending H2 was anything more than the steaming pile of cow crap that it was. If any one else directed that turd it would be considered the worst abomination ever made. I understand the Rob Zombie fanboys feel they must defend everything he does but COME ON, have some objectivity. I love John Carpenter but I know and have no problem saying Ghosts of Mars, Escape From L.A. and Village of the Damned are all complete garbage. I think Martin Scorsese is a genius but has anyone seen New York, New York? How about Bringing Out the Dead? If you have, than you know both are awful. Being a fan doesn't mean you can't admit when the object of you fanaticism makes a huge blunder.

Of course, there is always the possibility you actually think H2 is a good movie in which case you have bigger issues than being a fan boy.

@Jason13 --- The theatrical cut of H2 is terrible, but that's because the Weinsteins ruined it with their terrible ending and scenes edited out. The Director's Cut is the best Halloween since the original. If you think the director's cut is worse than all the crappy sequels to the original, then... I don't know what.

I'm not "pretending".

Jason13, i assume that that is how old you are. or your IQ? get a grip that people have different likes. if you don't like H2 then fine. some of us do. NEITHER OPINION IS "CORRECT". NEITHER OPINION IS "WRONG". grow the f^uck up. your attempt at belittling us who happen to like a Zombie movie by calling us "fanboys" screams of a low IQ. i don't like Zombie's music and i don't even like all of Zombie's movies (i really only like his HALLOWEEN movies). so your attempt at an insult by calling me/us a fanboy falls flat. but again, your whole post is that of a 13 year old who thinks the whole world revolves around them and that their opinion is the only valid one. wrong on all counts, tween.

The Shape returns....again. Now I just wish they would make Scream 5, and the Friday the 13th part 2 remake.

also bring in INSIDE'S Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury to do this HALLOWEEN movie!

You know Rob Zombies efforts were not to bad...some sceens were very good but I look forward to a new director which might give us a better vision .

OH GOD!!!!! JUST LET MICHAEL MYERS DIE ALREADY!!!!! H2 is a good place to end the Halloween saga for good. But NOOOOOO, Dimension wants continue with it. BAD IDEA!!! But regardless I will still see this entry so I can accurately judge it.

@djblack1313, I agree Ressurection was awful, but I think you meant part 8 and not part 5when you mention that one, because even if you go by the H20 timeline for numbering that would only be part 4 techically, but Ressurection is part 8. Sorry not trying to be a dick or anything. But I totally agree with you.

@Jason13, hey man, you are going to need to lighten up on people, because in the horror community, fans are fickle. Some like buckets of blood, some prefer suspense and atmosphere. Some like older slowburn style films some prefer flash cut films. Horror is a big place, and room enough for all our opinions. People will like what they want to, and there is nothing anyone is going to do to change that. Personally I do not like the Zombie films either, but I can respect him as a filmmaker, and that he did do his own thing on the remakes, rather than simply rehash the Carpenter material. And I think everyone is a "fanboy" to some degree about something, whether you want to admit it or not. I am a Blade Runner fanboy, no doubt, but I am also not apologizing for anything either...

However, I have always thought that Halloween should have ended at 1, because Carpenter never intended to do a sequel, but wrote 2 just to keep the franchise from falling to someone else. And I actually think 3 is awesome, just not a Halloween film... more of a Pod people film or similar to the Qatermass flicks (which is was written by the writer of such films). I do think they should let the series rest in piece, but I was always curious when they teased years ago about Clive Barker writing and John Carpenter directing Pinhead versus Michael Myers... that would have been very interesting indeed.

Baphomet, no worries! lol. i really disliked HALLOWEEN 5-RES. part 4 with little Danielle's first H movie was the last one i kinda liked until H20. but i appreciate your clarifying for me! :)

Now I REALLY hope we all die in 2012. This is the cancer that is killing this planet.

Posted by: djblack1313 on June 17, 2011 at 21:53:10

Derek, melodramatic much? hyperbole much? LOL.

Posted by: Realistic on June 17, 2011 at 22:15:56

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets delayed yet again. They don't even have a writer or director on board and no casting has been made official.

Posted by: CallmeJesus on June 18, 2011 at 01:01:50

If they can forget this 3D crap I'll be interested again. No way on Earth will a Halloween movie be restored to earlier glory under a fricking 3D gimmick.
Zombie's two Halloween's were good. Lot better than some of the older flicks but it would be nice to see Michael Myers in his original form again.
Just not in 3D!!!!

God, how can they possibly mess up such a simple premise like this on such a repeated basis????

Posted by: GodCalling on June 18, 2011 at 01:08:15

Easy, my son.
This is just rumourville.

Halloween III was a brilliant movie. Halloween 3D sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

To answer your question about how this series has become a joke, you need look in the mirror and see why you go to work every day and ditest every moment of it.
It's all for the money, my son. All for the money.

Michael Myers is pure evil. He will never die. Keep these movies coming. There has not been another scary movie since rob zombie's halloween's to even talk about.

Posted by: SatanHere on June 18, 2011 at 01:21:34

Yes. Bring back Michael Myers from the original for once.

That would be a nice change.

Stop with the whole family killer crap. Just sort out some suspense instead of cheap kills and shock tactics. Try creating atmosphere without ****ty shaky cam.

Finally, Alan Howarth to score.

Posted by: SatanHere on June 18, 2011 at 01:25:16

Michael Myers pure evil, eh?

Not sure I'd go along with that.

But yeah, "pure evil" needs a reboot. Not 3D.

Posted by: MichaelMyers on June 18, 2011 at 01:31:49

I'd like to be in the new movie but I don't know what shape or form yet.
Be nice to squeeze into a brand new fresh jumpsuit instead of the grease covered pocketless uniform of late but only time will tell.
A nice fresh mask - stuff my dreams are made of. Ask Shatner. Ask anybody. Just no more opera singers. CGI "experts". Zoo experts. Or Frankenstein fans. Please. Let's keep is simple.

Can't wait to be either popping out a sewer near you or trimming my beard and takin' the razor to ...everyone else.

I'll be back. In 3D or normal.

Word.

"WORD!" said in loud grizzly voice akin to my performance in RZH2.

For the hundred-millionth time H2 SUCKED BALLS!!!! The first Zombie/Halloween was good, the 2nd.. blew chunks!!! I am excited to get the 3D news, with a BETTER director than what Zombie did to H2!
