it started out strong but finished weak, and there are too many holes in it, it had potential but could of been better

I really enjoyed this film, the cinematography was fantastic and helped keep the "fright" factor up. Also the score was amazing, it gave me a heartache! But some parts are to predictable and the dialogue was poorly written but all in all the film was a very good horror film because of the great use of the key elements of cinema.

good thrills, no substance though. Thought the movie was missing something the whole time. Knew everything that was gonna happen before it did....but isnt that the same with all horror movies now a days? to predictable. Good to see once, pointless to see again. i award you 4/10 stars due to ur lack of rewatch value

amazing movie

WHAT AN AMAZING PIECE OF CRAP !!! There was no suspense , no terror, and no thrills. This movie was so predictable.
Why do these first time directors think they can get away with basing their movies, i mean " remakes " on other vastly superior movies ( THEM ). why don't they impress us instead with fresh new ideas ? why copy someone else's work ?
It doesn't matter that this project may have started about three or four years ago. it stills looks a lot like THEM, except that THEM was a great movie, the STRANGERS sucked .

I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!!!

I thought the movie was suspensful as Hell. Very "Vacancy" like. A little bit predictable at parts. Good use of sounds and noises to scare the shi* out of you. Not too much gore, this movie strives and relys on constant suspense and thrills throughout.

Posted by: Jeremy on May 31, 2008 at 00:10:43

I personally thought this was a great horror film. Why? Because, when was the last time that you saw a new horror movie come out that didn't focus on the payoff, but rather focus on the sounds....the things you THINK you see....the empty spots on either side of the frame....none of this is original, it just feels fresh to see it employed in a new, mainstream film. And employed well.

Posted by: Will on May 31, 2008 at 00:15:45

The movie was good....I haven't seen a good scary movie in a long time.

Posted by: PlutoRox on May 31, 2008 at 01:07:24

Saw this one just a few hours ago & I completely agree with Jeremy's comment--GREAT piece of horror movie making. It's all in the sounds, not seeing what you think you saw, the empty spots just outside the frame, etc. Never even heard of the movie 'Them', but I'll look into it now for certain. Plus, never being able to see the assailants faces, stellar suspense. See this one, but not by yourself.

for actually there were so many question unanswer?
but is true the way they used the sound on the scary moment, classic.
i just only wish they have much telling on the why this couple were attack by this mask stalkers?

i just got home from seeing it. I thought it had a really good suspence feel to it, the story seemed like they took a tragic event and made a 90 min moovie out of it. great mind game but horrible movie, so i want to get my 18.00 back b/c my girlfriend hated it also.

Posted by: Thunder on May 31, 2008 at 02:29:13

I loved it. 10/10 for me.

Posted by: monster on May 31, 2008 at 02:50:59

talk about scary. the theatre i was in was screaming and jumping. some grown man dumped his popcorn on me and my friend. great movie. very well done. i loved the ending cause it wasn't a hollywood ending. this really makes you want to lock your doors and windows and never answer the door, ever.

Awesome awesome movie, loved it, besides inside, rec. and the orphanage no movie has messed wid me like this so far this year. An unexspected gem, had the whole theater screaming, and they even clapped at the end. Shame to the people who write this off especially since most of them r praise frontiers so damn hard (decent movie but extremely derivative, and jus not that amazing once u see the superior inside) BUt his movie was def unrelenting and tense. O and on the funny games comparision i appreciated games, but it was not scary at all jus mess up slightly pretentious but very very intelligent, the stranger is horrorifying!

o and im pretty sure he wrote this before ills came out, give the guy sum credit hater, why do movie goers have to b so damn negative these days, is not prom nigt so stfu and b happy we got a good studio film for once

Posted by: movieguy1 on May 31, 2008 at 03:45:13

I give it a 3 from 1-5 ..... the scene when the mask man comes in from the back of liv tyler when shes in the house smoking a cigarette .... and just stair at her loved it ...it remind me of halloween .... when michael myers use to that .. it was kool

Posted by: movieguy1 on May 31, 2008 at 03:46:47

use to do that***

Posted by: keoni on May 31, 2008 at 06:41:06

i thought it was amazing and scary! even thought people sitting behind me were pissing me off screaming on the parts that wernt scary. thats what i get for going to a cheap theater.. ehh.. it was still scary how the people would show up at the most random times. and the songs "i slllllaaaaaved all niiiight" whoooaaa can we say spooky

Posted by: Jeff Allard on May 31, 2008 at 06:57:47

For anyone who wants to compare this and 'Them', as far as I'm concerned this absolutely destroyed 'Them'. Much scarier, much more tense. I loved this movie - for me, it's the first really scary movie to hit theaters in a long, long time. Thank God they didn't feel the need to explain anything - it just would've taken away from the mood. And the final scenes were great. Without posting any spoilers in case someone who hasn't seen the movie is reading this, I just loved the fact that when the protagonists were in a tight spot, the director didn't 'help' them in the way that you would've seen in most other films with either a well-timed knock on the door from the cops some other cheap way to avoid the inevitable. There's a few minor flaws to the film that keep it from being perfect but this is still an 8 out of 10 for me.

my girl and i really enjoyed this movie. we've gotten so complacent with over the top gore and witty one liners that seeing a movie like this based in reality really hit closer to home and provided a much more terrifying experience. i'm a 26 yr old dude and there are times when i legitimately jumped in my seat. my girlfriend also made the comment that it was nice to see victims being victims for a change. liv tyler didnt suddenly grab a belt sander and take out the killers one by one. the average person wouldnt be mentally or physically prepared for this type of unexpected encounter and the strangers did a great job of pointing out this fact.

You Got To Be Kidding Me. Everything Was So Predictable. One Or Two Scenes Gave Gave Me A Rush. It Was Worth Seeing At The Matinee Price, But I Wouldn't Pay Full Price. Liv Tyler Can't Act. She Wasn't Even That Sexy In The Movie. Maybe 5 Out Of 10.

Posted by: Tyler on May 31, 2008 at 10:47:07

The most amazing piece of artwork that I have ever seen on the big screen. It had no flaws and was perfect from start to finish.

Posted by: Brian Donners on May 31, 2008 at 11:48:55

I had seriously high expectations for this movie and it certenly did NOT deliver. It was way too drawn out. Too much of Liv Tylor crawling around. The only saving grace was Charley Day from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'. And even he didn't last very long. It was not scary. It was not gorey. It sucked. Dont waste your time.

Posted by: grumpyass on May 31, 2008 at 12:44:16

I want to say i liked it, but i had to leave 10min into the movie cuz the theater was filled will all black ppl and they wouldnt shut the hell up. They r rude and disrespectful. Thanks for ruining the movie for me A$$holes

Posted by: Pieman on May 31, 2008 at 13:03:30

unoriginal, boring, and typical garbage. suspense?!?... my a** ... the recycled "now you see them, now you dont" scare effect was used for about 1 hour and 32 minutes of the 1 hour and 40 minute movie. the only thing realistic about this movie was how much it sucked. too bad because the trailer looked good. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY
