ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned that MGM's planned remake of Tobe Hooper's classic '80s haunted house movie Poltergeist has received a release date of November 24, 2010, Thanksgiving weekend. With director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) attached since last September, the production has been in development a long time with a script surfacing last year, but so far, no cast has been announced and no information about where or when they might start filming.

Some people are going to die, literally. If it's a such thing as a "movie" being cursed, this one is it!

it could be good, what they could do with the remake is it be a family moves into a home, that craig t nelsons company had built, if im not mistaken his character was a contractor, bring him back in at least a cameo along with jobeth williams to console and assist the family that is dealing with the poltergeist and they could get the girl that played esther in orpan to be the new heather orourke role, as carol anne.

I personally like remakes and look forward to seeing which classics are being redone. A remake of a classic can be great if the story line doesn't change and I love comparing the old to the new. Hopefully they don't change a thing with the storyline on this one though because this is one classic that if done right will be awesome.

I loved this film as a kid. I'll be curious to see where they take it.

Darn you STYD for giving me more reasons to come to this site after H2 and Nightmare are done.
