How That Rosemary's Baby Remake...
Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com, Collider
December 23, 2008

No, it wasn't divine intervention that cut down Platinum Dunes' remake of Rosemary's Baby. Producer Brad Fuller explains to Collider, "We went down that road and we even talked to the best writers in town and it feels like it might not be do-able. We couldn't come up with something where it felt like it was relevant and we could add something to it other than what it was so we're now not going to be doing that film."

Sources tell us one of the writers called in was Scott Kosar, a Platinum Dunes vet with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror remakes under his belt. He pitched them a Baby redo that veered off familiar ground, so, Kosar fashioned his story into an entirely new tale about Satan. This one, in fact.

Oh, and their Near Dark redo is dead, too. It's been so long since there's been an update on that, you probably figured it was dead already.

Wait... a story about remakes NOT happening?

What madness is this?!

Better still, a story about a remake giving birth to...an original story! It's a win!

Good god I hope this sparks a trend of creativity. this is how its SUPPOSED to work. A classic or even contemporary horror film inspires a writer to create a similar, yet wholely ORIGINAL work that is NOT a remake! Keep those fingers crossed for The Unborn not sucking. It may be our only hope of 09 :)

Thank God.

Near Dark is a classic and should not be tarnished.

Pleased to hear that not every remake idea is getting the green light! Any news on that SUSPIRIA redux with Natalie Portman?
