Rumor Control: Dr. Gordon and Saw 6
February 18, 2009

It happens every year. A new Saw film comes along with renewed rumors that Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) will return in some capacity. Over the last 24 hours it hit a decent pitch when a synopsis erroneously appeared on XBox Live as a description for Saw V (see video below).

Chatter began on the web and folks speculated this was possibly a leaked description of Saw VI. Furthermore, buzz started to build that Gordon was returning.

Not the case at all.

It's a synopsis for the upcoming video game. But rumors of Gordon's cameo in Saw VI persist so we made a few phone calls this afternoon. Naturally, our sources behind-the-scenes wish to remain anonymous but all dismissed the possibility of seeing Gordon for the next entry. Right now, it's not in the cards at all. From the sounds of it, the narrative for what occurs in the sixth entry was mapped out long ago and he hasn't been included.

You have to remember, Elwes and Twisted Pictures were tied up in a legal mess that was resolved after the first Saw. Amends would have to be made if Gordon was going to return. Or, at least Elwes as Gordon. I'm sure they could re-cast the role...but that would be silly, no?

Kevin Greutert will be getting behind the camera for Saw VI soon, stay tuned for updates in the coming months!

sounds like a stupid plot for a video game based on saw. imo, it should just be about a random and new set of characters in the world of saw.

Posted by: ico on February 18, 2009 at 21:16:59

I've been saying all along that he wouldnt be returning.

I'm not gloating or anything. Ok i am.

Posted by: gordon on February 18, 2009 at 22:39:44

dr. gordon have to return. if he don't they'll never end up saw series. we have to know if dr. gordon is dead or alive, or maybe he's a jigsaw apprenti :D

Posted by: k on February 19, 2009 at 01:01:33

if doctor gordon never returns in the film series, they are making a big mistake.

as with if this isnt the last one. continuing after 6 would also be a big mistake.

PLEASE... DON'T END THE SERIES. ITS ALL WE HAVE THAT'S STILL SOMEWHAT ORIGINAL. and that's why my name is *******... cause I'm one of the only people rooting for more SAW movies.

Posted by: End this Damn Series on February 19, 2009 at 04:02:49

SERIOUSLY! all it is, is Torture Pornography! The mere fact that SAW III, IV, & V are part of the horror genre is an insult to great directors such as John Carpenter who know how to do a true horror movie.
Either bring back Dr. Gordon, or STOP PLEASE!

c'mon, the guy was already turning blue from blood loss... And we've seen enough in those movies to tell that in order for him to ever see the light of day, he would need a miracle: long corridors, stairs, Amanda, etc... the is dead...

Posted by: Atomic Boner on February 19, 2009 at 10:45:22

god, i ****ing HATE Saw

@ End this Damn Series

right on brother

@ A sshole of A ssholes

wtf are you talking about? yeah, the first Saw was somewhat original, but after 4 stupid goddamn sequels and at least one more on the way, that are all the SAME THING (lots of horror movies suffer from this), its not original anymore

Posted by: Jason on February 19, 2009 at 23:03:08

why would dr. gordon come back? didn't he bleed to death and wasn't that his body in the second one? and why do people want him back, is he that important?

but i think that they should have ended the saw movies after the 3rd one. it was a good ending. i thought that the 4th one was really boring, thats why i haven't seen the 5th one.
how much more do they need to talk about whats his faces life? i thought he died in the 3rd one, but yet theres a 6th movie coming out.

Ok i dont see why people are all like "end the whole series" wtf does it matter to you if they do? heres a solution (dont watch them) i for one LOVED every single saw movie to date (more or less on #2) but still. what there kinda doing is making some movies On blood and guts with a little story line or just a little blood and guts with a huge part of the story line. I would love to see gordon come back cause every huge fan would like him back and probley bring more money in for the gross (it'd be a good idea) and stfu all the people that want it to end it shouldnt matter to you if it does or doesnt. Friday the 13th is all the same thing but yet 11! seqeuls so uhmm.

I love saw but after 5 i was so dissapointed and im not going to watch 6 they ruined it now.

first off ppl.. go to youtube type in saw 6 dr gordan theres a new clip with him in it.. that we havent seen that proves he's alive!!! talking about what happened after he left... so 4 those ppl who say he isnt alive.. well look at this and also if u look on tha net ule c that leight whannel adam from from saw.. states that cary elwes has made up with lionsgate and could be in saw 6... so this clip dosent lie so wateva know it all people hes alive

Posted by: ico on March 24, 2009 at 23:56:54

I still don't think he's coming back but i recently watched Saws 1 to 5 in one day and you never see Gordons body.

Posted by: Not a CRITIC on March 31, 2009 at 12:45:28

Why don't you all quit with the crits! If they make another saw movie & you don't like it........... Don't ****ING WATCH IT! You go to work every day doing the same **** over & over & Over again to make money. If I could make money off letting different people make sequels one after the other..... There would be as many as could be made til people weren't watching them. & you hand full of haters do not make a whole hell of a lot of difference. As far as Dr. Gordon, If Ewels wouldn't be reprising the role, don't bring the character back at all. I suspected he had something to do with it but was proven wrong each one. So let come what may. There are other movies out there to see so you don't have to give one second of view to another saw movie. So STOP B*TCHING!!!!

Posted by: Kai on April 16, 2009 at 20:30:17

WTF i dont understand saw are amazing movies all 5 yes i said all 5. they story always keeps u on edge and tense and its not like its lacking in gore. its the perfect horror film it has the blood and gore. it has the thrill and then it has a story and not some bull***t theme. MAKE MORE SAWS anyone that watches them and wants them to stop are just critics. and they take to much notice of every little detail and anything that could be wrong and they dont watch the movie except anaylse it so they are blinded because of what they want to see which is reasons to slag off all of the series.

I didn't care for III very much, but I loved the mystery that V brought. I can't wait to see the "rumored" ending. As for Gordon, I know he was still alive, I never saw his body. But if they cannot get the original actor, I hope he doesn't return.

Posted by: TheLadyRaven on May 19, 2009 at 19:36:23

One more little comment for all of the Saw haters out there... look how much good the Saw franchise has done! The blood drive alone every year keeps bringing in more and more blood donations.

Hi I would just like to say that Dr Gordon is still alive as there is an exclusive clip on youtube of him talking to Dr Hefner in Saw 6. And he is defently the next jigsaw because there are over 20 clues in all the saw films (even saw 1). So I just wanted to let you know. Thankyou! :)

Posted by: Brandon on May 30, 2009 at 04:29:12

To ico: You said you never see Dr gordons body after the 1st saw movie? Then tell me what that body was at the end of Saw 5... the body laying in the other room with a shackel on and a foot cut off. That is his body. Alive or not, i dont know... But i really think he is alive and i think he was either a helper of jigsaw or he was the mastermind behind it all. It would make sense...

Posted by: Brandon on May 30, 2009 at 04:31:14

oh and I agree with David Borja. He hit it on the money. i was saying that he was behind it all after the first one

Posted by: David Paulsson on June 11, 2009 at 13:00:07

Guys that isnt from saw 6 its the clip from "The Riverman" another movie Elwes was in. Check it out and you see thats the truth lol
Anyway I would love to see atleast what happened to him, this mystery is kinda lame, just show us a flashback with dr gordon in it and what happened. That isnt so hard to fix lol, he jsut have to be in the movie for like 2-3minutes.

Posted by: ico on June 11, 2009 at 18:34:47

At what point in the movie? Be more specific.

Cary Elwes wont be in the movie because he was shooting 2 movies back-to-back while Saw 6 was shooting.

Besides, i think Gordon turning out to be helping Jigsaw would suck because EVERYBODY would expect it.

Posted by: Kenny on June 14, 2009 at 20:17:50

it's as simple as this, Dr. Gordon must come back or the rest of it will be ****!

Posted by: Jester on June 18, 2009 at 22:44:12

Hey, what's up! Um. . .listen I still think tat Dr. Gordon is alive. I keep hearing people saying that he in't because there's that other body in the bathroom. But if remeber it correctly that the only people that have died in that bathroom were Adam [r.i.p. :(] Zep & Xavier. And Lawrence's trail of blood can be seen when Strahm follows the trail in the Gas House from Saw 2 and you can see his blood. And just because his name is on the list of potential Saw victims doesn't mean he's dead. They could've found him and maybe when he finally remember Adam that Amanda had alreay killed him, IDK. But You got to remember that there were survelience cameras in the Gordon home by Zep. So the only reason I came up with for Gordon not saving Adam was because he maybe blackedout for a couple of weeks from the blood loss. IDK. But it's just one of my theories.
