****ing amazing! I am gonna see it again this weekend. Everything was so well done, and the new Jason Voorhees of this generation is fast, smart, and scary. The story was told very well, and it didn't feel over done. The kills were great, and cinematography was very well executed. I reccommend this film to any horror fan, and especially to any Friday the 13th/Jason fan.

10 hours to go. damn. in a very f13 style it's getting very bad review. it will be amazing!

Posted by: Aggressive Sock on February 13, 2009 at 05:50:05

Yet on all of the un-biased sites it's getting great reviews!

IGN: 4/5
STYD: 8/10
Bloody-Disgusting: 4/5
Movies.com: B+

Lol, all these people over at Bloody-Disgusting forum are saying it sucks, but their reasoning I don't agree with. Meh, to each their own. I think this movie is awesome, and is def. better than most horror movies of this generation, including other remakes of old franchises.

I think the main problem with people who dislike this movie, is that they aren't willing to accept a newer and slightly altered Jason. They don't give it a chance and go in with a judgmental attitude, instead of just enjoying it and drifting into the feel of the movie.

i wanted to love it but came away feeling pretty "meh" about it. i loved the new jason, but that was about it... i thought the opening was pretty weak- and as much as i wanted mrs. voorhees' to be a part of the new movie, it seemed like it would have been a better start to the flick to just start with whitney and her friends setting up camp and have the pot-freak tell the story of camp blood. that said, the pre-credits group of kids were a whole lot better (as were the jason attacks) than anything else that came after. and that ending... really? was that the best they could do? i know the filmmakers were probably very afraid to do anything too drastic to jason because of the inevitable sequel, but it didn't feel like much of a showdown or anything. for instance, i saw the new movie back to back with a showing of the 3-D version of Part 3, and something about #3's climax just felt so much more rewarding than having whitney deliver a dumb one-liner and run jason through with the machete. and then the next day they bring his body all the way to the side of the lake and dump him and the mask and the locket in. um... what? plus the music was terribly uninspired and relied on loud blasts to make you jump and had no atmosphere whatsoever... sooo unlike the original. all in all, it wasn't terrible (it wasn't as bad as- say- black christmas or prom night), but they needed a better script, a better beginning, a better finale, and a different cast of actors- because the kids for the most part just kind of sucked. but like i said, jason kicked ass and in person, derek mears is really really likable.

Just a couple more hours and I'll be watching it. Couldn't wait for this movie and now the time is finally here!

Posted by: Colin on February 13, 2009 at 10:48:01

A very solid slasher. The dock scene will do as a classic kill.

If a sequel happens, then it's about damn time it's set during WINTER. I want blood-soaked snow, icicles through eyes, and ice skates slashing throats.

Check out Variety's review, which pathetically can't set-up the plot correctly, claiming Whitney (Amanda Righetti) decapitates Mrs. Voorhees, and the rest of the movie is Jason seeking revenge. Ridiculous.

Collin, I couldn't agree more with you on having a Friday the 13th during winter. There is soooooooo many things that could be done with that idea. I can only imagine a couple of lovebirds sliding down a luge and getting decapitated by Jason after rising out of the snow.

Best one since the original!!! If the sequels
are gonna be like this, I'm in line!!!!

Posted by: Colin on February 13, 2009 at 12:00:39

Mears should play Rick Taylor in Splatterhouse.

Or the title character in an adaptation of Chuck D. Head...

Honestly fans, I felt screwed. I feel like my mom hyped me up for a whole year about getting the next gen console. The ultimate gameing experience. I was getting an X-box 360 or a playstation 3... but christmas came and I rushed downstairs to open my gift and to my surprise.... A Nintendo 64!!?? What the hell man???

Posted by: Spaz Dolphiend on February 13, 2009 at 16:10:21

dont get me wrong, Jason kicked ass like no other... but honestly... what the hell? long live the Derek Mears Jason

Posted by: Spaz Dolphiend on February 13, 2009 at 16:13:02

Actually, I wanna throw this out there. I'm sure that half of the horror fans that get on this website love to write. I'm sure everyone has written there own horror and if not, they want to. I hope someone out in hollywood land is reading this, PLEASE... hire someone who loves and knows the story of Jason Voorhees and hell, you might even get us to do it for free! We'd write an awesome movie! Hell, if you want, look me up at www.necrovilletv.com!! I'd be happy to do it!

Aggressive Sock ur wrong I'm a Hugh hard core Friday fan i was very open mind ready 4 a faster smarter Jason that i always wanted and the **** i got wasn't even good i waited 2 years for this I'm so disappointed

Posted by: Hades on February 13, 2009 at 18:12:12

it was a good homemage, but i really dislike the ending...maybe it was somekind of dream sequence or something, also we saw part of Jason's head getting damaged by the machine and also the machete through the chest, how the hell are the writers going to bring him back in a "realistic way"?

Posted by: James on February 13, 2009 at 19:16:42

The time has come and gone, and...this movie is a monumental failure, not only as a Friday entry, but as a film in general.

Too much to write here, but let's just break it down to the essentials: Flat, uninteresting characters; one of the worst scripts for a Friday ever, and I'm including 7, 8, JGTH, and FvJ; laughable dialogue, and not in a good way (just wait until the final confrontation--I was howling at one of the movie's ending lines); awful, muddy cinematography; uninspired kills; the most criminal use of shaky-cam since The Blair Witch Project; and, worst of all, a nearly-complete absence of one of Friday's greatest attributes: ki-ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma-ma. Yes, folks, the haters were right: this movie SUCKS!

Posted by: Jeremy on February 13, 2009 at 19:20:14

I just went & seen this today & it was awesome,I have the complete trilogy of Friday the 13ths,jason X,Freddy vs Jason, there were lots of new things for him he was faster, smarter, new kills, espicially with bow & arrow was hilarious shot!!Would be cool yes if they did a friday the 13th in the winter time, slit throats with ice skates, impalements with skis etc. Will go & watch this again!!

Posted by: Space Monkey on February 14, 2009 at 00:42:18

Loved it. Worth the money and I loved how they blended various parts of the original movies into this one. Also loved how they made it their own, and the new Jason is cool.

I'm on board for a sequel...

Posted by: Preacher on February 14, 2009 at 01:33:19

Just saw the movie went in with an open mind ready for a re boot and sorry hard core friday fans. THIS FILM IS WEAK!!! I took my wife with me and she hates to watch scary movies and we walked out saying that wasn't even scary. She was more afraid watching ghost hunters on tv. She only jumped once during the whole movie. I'm sure many people will love this movie, but i grew up watching Friday The 13th as a kid and this was very weak!
