July 8, 2009

Toronto After Dark Film Festival has just announced its first batch of genre pics that will be premiering at the festival's fourth annual event this August 14 - 21.

The initial lineup includes a number of critically acclaimed films from around the world including Trick 'r Treat (pictured), co-starring True Blood's Anna Paquin, and Paul Solet's Grace. Fans who prefer genre films of a more fantastic nature have a special treat in store with the North American Premiere of the new British thriller Franklyn that merges present day London with a futuristic steampunk world, and stars Ryan Phillippe and Eva Green (Casino Royale).

Also on tap, the French heist film Black, the Japanese romantic horror comedy Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, Embodiment of Evil, The Forbidden Door and Someone's Knocking at the Door.

Individual tickets go on sale on July 29, the same day Toronto After Dark will be releasing its complete festival lineup including 9 more feature film announcements, and the entire film schedule. Or you can opt to pre-order a Festival All-Access Pass, which is already on advance sale at just $99. The passes give fans priority entry to all 18 screenings including the opening and closing galas and parties.

Visit the official Toronto After Dark Film Festival site here for more details on the films and the festival.

Can't wait to see Jose [Ze do Caixao] Marins "Embodiment of Evil" co written by Dennison Ramalho. The man responsible for the truly blaspemous and wicked short film "Amor Só de Mãe aka Love From Mother Only".

Also looking forward to "Grace" and "Trick 'r Treat" although I seriously doubt it will be all it's been hyped to be.
